This National Children’s Gardening Week we’re thrilled to be working with official NCGW ambassador Lee Connelly, also known as The Skinny Jean Gardener. He’s leading the 2025 UK School Gardening Tour – and we’re the official Tool Partner for this brilliant initiative.
We’re supplying the tour with a range of tools and equipment from our RHS-endorsed Growing Gardeners family gardening range. The tools will be used during Lee’s in-school gardening sessions and can then be used by the schools to continue to get even more kids growing.
Lee is the UK’s leading children’s gardening educator. He has appeared on CBBC’s Blue Peter and presented to the House of Lords Horticulture Committee. He’s a published children’s author and also hosts the Skinny Jean Gardener Podcast, one of the UK’s top horti listens. And we’re thrilled to be supporting him with his school tour!
Reaching 10,000 young gardeners
The tour will see Lee visiting 15 schools in person and additionally will support a further 15 schools through engaging educational content. The aim is to reach a huge 10,000 young gardeners in just one week!

Lee says: “I’m really proud to be working with Burgon & Ball on this year’s School Gardening Tour. Their tools are not only trusted by gardeners of all ages, but they help make gardening accessible, fun, and practical for children across the UK. Together, we’re inspiring the next generation to get growing!”
Check out Lee’s Instagram feed to see the tour in action. How much fun are these kids having?! These moments of colour, excitement and engagement are what creates gardeners for life.
We've created our Growing Gardeners collection to support families who want to get gardening together, but who might not know where to start. The range includes much more than tools. Whether the family is looking for a small windowsill project or they have a lager outdoor patch to play with, there’s something here to get them started. And it’s all supported by our online resource of projects and support which has been created in association with the RHS.
So why not bring the fun of family gardening to your shoppers this summer?
