New Year, new leaf: get organised in 2018

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Exercise more, eat healthily, create more quality time with family and friends… we use the opportunity of a new year to make all kinds of changes in our lives. These good intentions, however, have all too often fallen by the wayside by the time mid-January rolls around. After all, there are still all those Christmas chocolates around the house, and they do need eating up, don’t they…?

Whether your New Year resolutions are going well or not, one change that’s worth sticking to as we head into 2018 is ‘getting more organised’. Spending less time searching for that exact little something we’re after, means more time spent doing what we love. And for us gardeners, that means more time with soil under our fingernails!

What’s more, shortcuts to organising your home also very much in vogue at the moment. Take a look on Instagram at something like #organized (the US spelling dominates!) will reveal hundreds of thousands of people desperate to show you their very tidy wardrobes, craft rooms, pantries, laundry rooms and every other aspect of their home. They’re obviously on to something, so why not give it a try when it comes to your gardening bits and bobs?

Burgon & Ball tool rackFor large tools like spades, forks, rakes and hoes, you won’t believe the difference getting the tools off the floor and hung up tidily on the wall will make to your shed. Our tool rack lets you space the clips wherever you like, so it’s easy to create your own bespoke display. Every item on display, off the floor and perfectly accessible… how satisfying is that?

For smaller bits and bobs, our new wall-mounted pegboard is fast gaining a bit of a cult following. It’s just perfect for carrying a wide selection of smaller bits and bobs, and comes with hooks for hanging your essentials in easy reach. But of course, you could use bulldog clips or magnets to get a larger variety of your ‘must-haves’ onto the wall. And there’s even an integral shelf, for heavier or larger items.

The pegboard comes from our new Garden Supplies collection, which is chock-full of stylish storage solutions. There’s a very practical – and oh-so-gorgeous – seed packet storage tin with hinged lid and leather handles, a beech-handled garden caddy and also a bird food storage tin, again with an on-trend leather handle. Do check out the range for lots more ideas on the last word in stylish storage.

We have lots of good storage ideas for all round the home, in fact. We have to mention the bright and breezy peg bag from our beautiful Brie Harrison for Burgon & Ball collection. Featuring an on-trend design of houseplants and colourful pots, it’s just perfect for organising laundry day.

And of course, for storage in the home take a look at our Creaturewares storage tins – they’re perfect for animal fans! They’re just the thing to brighten up kitchen storage, and they’re especially ideal for holding treats for our furry, feathered and finned friends. Are all, they deserve it, don’t they?

So make 2018 the year you get organised – in the shed, garage, and all round the home. Who knows, perhaps it won’t be too long before we’re admiring the fruits of your tidying labours on Instagram?
