We were delighted to get an early Christmas present recently... we won an award for the way we’ve built improved sustainability into our new RHS-endorsed BoronGreen® tool collection!
In a rather splendid night out at the annual awards run by GIMA (the Garden Industry Manufacturers’ Association), our work with BoronGreen was recognised with the title of Sustainability Champion in the 'Garden Tools, Machinery and Implements' category.
The BoronGreen range, launched earlier this year, has reimagined what is possible with sustainability in garden tools – and we’ve combined it with advanced performance, too.
Steel that's 80% recycled
The boron steel of the tool heads is made from 80 per cent recycled materials, a remarkable achievement in sourcing. What’s more, the tools use FSC®-certified wood from sustainably managed forests for the tool handles, and of course the packaging is plastic-free.
On the performance front, the boron steel we've used is stronger, tougher and more durable than regular high-carbon steel, with no additional weight when compared with an equivalent high-carbon tool. The combination of advanced boron steel performance with ambitious sustainability targets is believed to mark a genuine first in UK tools.
We’re really excited to receive recognition from our industry as Sustainability Champion in the Tools category. We’ve made great progress with the BoronGreen range, and we believe we’ve achieved something really special by combining these sustainability advancements with the superior performance of boron steel.
Distinctive design
We think the range is further enhanced by the special design touches we’ve added. The spade and fork handles are thermo-treated for long life and comfort in use. We’ve chosen a classic olive green for the protective powder coating on the steel tool heads. There’s a beautiful wooden inlay in the handle on some of the hand tools. This range really does look as special as its unique credentials demand.
In addition, the BoronGreen range is endorsed by the RHS, that trusted name in gardening. And for that extra peace of mind, every item in the range carries a 25 year guarantee.
Overall we’re thrilled to bits with the Sustainability Champion award. Christmas really did come early for us this year!
